Project Control and Monitoring
Project Control and Monitoring
Small projects - Level 1 system
Small scale Projects are usually defined and controlled through an Executive Report with a bullet point list of significant project deliverables (detailed with start and finish dates) and overlaid with progress achieved or earned work with an assessment of the projected completion dates. Regular updates to current and future target achievements will identify future trends and provide early warning of potential shortfalls.

Mid-sized Projects - Level 2 system
More wide ranging Projects will require a more detailed schedule definition which identifies the critical path with specific project deliverables bundled together. Generic activities, such as pipework, process data sheets, instrument data sheets, documents, engineering requisitions are bundled together as these are often executed in clusters. At Level 2 the project controller can input earned work information, forecast finish dates and determine which discipline is behind schedule or on schedule and also monitor efficiencies.
Project Control and Monitoring
Large and Complex Projects - Level 3
Provides a fully detailed project control schedule listing all activities and time scales as the method of control and monitoring for high value, complex and time sensitive projects.. A Level 3 project control document will sequentially list the major documents, the process deliverables, the engineering materials requisition list, purchase order schedule, manufacturing progress reports and others as determined necessary. As with the Level 2 system, the production controller shall input earned work information and other key data to produce necessary reports.

All reports can incorporate man hour resources per activity and provide a variety of S curves to monitor progress overall, budgets and specific area (discipline) progress. These provide, at a glance, a detailed status of the project and indicators of likely future progress.
