Water Treatment

EPD offers complete consultancy and project management services for water injection, enhanced oil recovery, waste water and produced water treatment for disposal or injection. These services are applied from initial reservoir studies through concept selection and basic engineering to final plant commissioning and operator training. This includes fluid characterisation, reservoir studies, water compatibility studies, reservoir souring studies, injection water quality specifications, process design, injection test services, training courses and commissioning services.

Activities undertaken by EPD include:

  • Oil and gas reservoir studies, evaluation, development and maintenance
  • Enhanced oil recovery studies
  • Water analysis and management encompassing water compatibilities and injection water quality determination
  • Chemical treatment requirement and optimisation
  • Feasibility Studies concept, Concept selection for Water Injection and Enhanced Oil Recovery and Basic Engineering Design

Initial reservoir simulation studies are essential to justify the capital expenditure in an enhanced oil recovery project and to help define the equipment needed. This study should also assess the potential for reservoir souring. The simulation studies should be performed as early as possible so that cost and design implications can be incorporated in the financial model for CAPEX costs.

Reservoir studies can be used to define the correct water quality specification and minimise the costs associated with injectivity decline, which include well work-overs, reduced oil production and retrofitting of process plant.
